This DIY is as easy to make as it is adorable! These simple tulle tutu pails are perfect for a ballerina birthday party or a ballerina-themed baby shower. They could work for a princess-themed party too! The tulle ruffles could even be modified to use around a vase for a matching centerpiece.
You will need:
- 3″ Metal favor buckets
- Roll of tulle
- Ribbon
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
- Glue gun
First cut a 50″ strip of the tulle. Fold it in half lengthwise. Double up the thread and tie a knot in the end.

Gather the fabric on the side with the fold to create a 2-layer ruffle.

Glue the tulle ruffle around the pail. If you don’t want to use a needle and thread you can just gather the fabric as you glue it to the pail. Sewing it beforehand just makes it a little bit easier.

Glue a 10″ piece of ribbon around the pail to cover the top of the tulle and glue a bow to cover the ends of the ribbon where they meet. Trim the ends of the tulle ruffle to the desired length and separate the 2 layers to make the tutu extra fluffy.

Add some candy or other treats. These tulle pails would be perfect with some tulle magic wands! Find instructions to make them here.
