DIY Heart-Shaped Balloon Garland

Create the perfect photo op at your Valentine’s or Galentine’s day celebration with this fun heart balloon garland!

You will need:

Start by cutting out strips of cardboard to create the frame. Glue 2 pieces together at a 90 degree angle to create the bottom point of the heart and then work your way up from there to create a heart shape. We made our heart about 5’5″ tall and 6′ wide.

Tie fishing line to both sides of the top of the heart and hang using nails or command hooks.

Next, inflate the balloons. A balloon pump will definitely make this part much easier! For our heart we used around 100 balloons total in three different colors. We stuck with classic Valentine’s Day colors: baby pink, cherry red, and white. You will want to vary how much you inflate them to create a variety of different sized balloons.

Start by attaching the largest balloons first. Use strips of packing tape or another strong tape to attach the ends of the balloons to the cardboard frame.

Next fill in the gaps between the larger balloons with the smaller balloons. Use glue dots to layer them on top. Keep adding layers of the smaller balloons until you get the look you want.

We added a few honeycomb balls in with the balloons to add some texture and a mylar love balloon as a finishing touch.
